The events held in December and January were SUCCESSFUL! Thanks to the donations received in place of the $5 cover at the Cypher House 308 Main on December 17, the goal to help 10 families was surpassed and 12 families were helped!!!!
January 4, 2011 was the 1st event of the year, supported by Ne-Fer-Tari Williams-raven’s Secret Word Cafe’ ! The items donated at that event assisted us in providing hygiene items to individuals who live outside. Toiletries for Families and the Calvin L. Foster Foundation partnered with Andrea’s Hope on Saturday, January 8, 2011 at 9 AM at the empty lot across from 2009 Congress and distributed toothbrushes, deodorant, soap, lotion, shampoo, conditioner, sanitary napkins, and soap to over 100 men and women collectively. Since then, Toiletries for Families has attended 3 other distributions, the 1st and 2nd Saturday of February, and the 1st Saturday of March.
Toiletries for Families has also teamed up with Salvation After HIV. Every 4th Thursday of the month, SAHIV hosts Talent Night at Trinity East United Methodist Church 2418 Mc Gowen St. Join us Thursday, March 25 as we present art through paint, voice, song, and dance and enjoy our special featured guest, 18 year old PUBLISHED AUTHOR AND ENTREPRENEUR, Miss Brandalyn Gill! This event is FREE and lasts from 6PM-8PM! By the way, I am cooking. Bring a friend, see you then!
